Arsenal manager
Arsene Wenger is unhappy because Aaron Ramsey was shown red card. He was angry
with the decision of sending off Ramsey as they played a draw against Besiktas
in their Champions League play-off. Ramsey was given warnings twice for pulling
back Besiktas players and the second leg at Emirates Stadium on 27 August will
be missed by him due to red card. Wenger said: “Both of the yellow cards were not
deserved. It is unbelievable we go home with Ramsey sent off.” Arsenal’s hope
to reach the group stages of the Champions League are balanced if the game in Istanbul
ends without goal.
Ramsey was sent off when 11 minutes were to go. Wenger was angry with Serbian referee Milorad Mazic. Wenger said: “Referee’s performance was very bad in the second half. I cannot see from where Ramsey’s second yellow card came. It was a big decision. Many things were wrong in the second half. It was difficult game for the referee as well because everybody fought for every ball. It was a tough match played at a high tempo. Besiktas’s pace was 100 per cent in the game and they fought for every single ball. We know the second leg will be tough again but we have the advantage of home, so the job is clear and we want to win.”
