Danny Welbeck’s second half header against former
club confirmed a place for the FA Cup holders Arsenal in the semi finals as they
beat Manchester United by 2-1 at Old Trafford in the quarter final game last
night. That finishes the hosts’ last chance of silverware and this is their
second consecutive season without any kind of trophy. Once in the past, they
have also spent two seasons without any trophy from 1987-89, under the supervision
of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Nacho Monreal provided the lead to visitors in the
25th minute which was cancelled out by Wayne Rooney from Angel Di
Maria's cross shot within four minutes. After that Welbeck scored the second
goal for visitors in the second half and provided the Arsene Wenger’s side
their first victory at Old Trafford since 2006. 24 years old England international,
Welbeck, joined Gunners from Van Gaal side in a £16m deal on the last day
of summer transfer window 2014.
The London club will
now face Reading or Bradford City in the semi final, who have a replay of their
quarter final game on next Monday after playing a 0-0 draw on Saturday. In the
other semi final, Aston Villa will host Liverpool or Blackburn. The semi-finals
will be played on 18 and 19 April at Wembley Stadium. SportsAndEventsTickets.com is one of the best online sources which
