American owner Randy Lerner wants to sell Aston Villa but no reliable client has contacted yet. Lerner offered the Premier league club for sale saying he could no longer manage the job. Villa is being valued at between £150m and £200m. Lerner purchased Aston Villa from Doug Ellis for £62.6m and he wants to sell it to a good guardian.
Football finance expert Peter Knowles has said: “A sale would not be completed overnight. When a valid customer is willing, it takes at least three months to complete a sale. Villa is an attractive club for an expected buyer despite its downgrading for last two seasons. Aston Villa is a huge club having great custom. It will be sold but you are looking for someone who would use it as a plaything rather than someone wanting to obtain serious money from it".
