Everton has not Been Approached for Ross Barkley: Roberto Martinez

Everton boss Roberto Martinez says no club has contacted for midfielder Ross Barkley. The midfielder is considered as the young prospects for the Premier League. There were rumors Manchester City could take him to the Etihad next summer. But Martinez said on Thursday City had not contacted for Barkley. He said: “It is a rumour and we will not discuss it. Potential interest has been discussed in the past. It is a footballing compliment. We want from Ross is to get fit and enjoy football and help team. He stressed no club made any enquiries for Barkley.”

It is chance that the midfielder will not be fit for Everton’s Premier League tour to Liverpool on Saturday. Barkley was injured before Everton’s first game of the season against Leicester and it was expected he will be out until November. Martinez disclosed he is recovering before schedule but cannot give date of Barkley’s return to game. He said: “Medicine and football do not go together. You think player will be fit tomorrow and medicine needs an extra day. He has started to run which we were not expecting until next week. I thought he will be fit after a few weeks but he is well before our expectations and it is positive.”
