Daniel Sturridge Will be Unfit for England Duty: Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has informed Daniel Sturridge will not have enough fitness to play for England in Euro 2016 qualifiers next week. Sturridge is out having thigh injury got on England duty. He has missed the Champions League tied game against FC Basel but may participate in Saturday’s Premier League match with West Brom. Rodgers said: “If we are selecting players for international duty then they should be fit. But Daniel won't be fit." Rodgers criticized England’s dealing of the player’s injury which he got in the Euro qualifier against Switzerland.

Consequently Sturridge did not play five Liverpool matches but may have enough fitness to play Saturday’s home game with West Brom. Rodgers insisted Sturridge would not be able to play England’s qualifiers with San Marino and Estonia. He said: “Whether he is available for the weekend or not he won’t be fit to play for England. I think he is not fit to play for England. We expect he can develop his position in the next 48 hours to train with the team and may be available on Saturday.” Sturridge has scored five goals since his debut for England in 16 appearances.
