Liverpool Still in the Champions League Despite a Ludogorets Draw

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says he is happy his team still has control over their Champions League fate reaching their final group match. A late equalizer was scored by Ludogorets against the Reds which will still go into the last 16 if Basel are defeated by them at Anfield next month. “It is still in our hands reaching last game. I cannot wish more than that, “Rodgers said after the match. “I am happy we will play in front of our fans in the final match.” The Reds have just one win out of five games in Group B but they will join Real Madrid in the knockout stage if they have three points against Basel.

Liverpool’s task had remained the same even if Ludogorets would not have scored their late equalizer on Wednesday. Rodgers team is at 12th position after 6 losses out of 12 matches in the Premier League. “Our performance and consistency have not been good in the Premier League and I take responsibility of that, “said Rodgers. “It was very close group in the Champions League and all the teams there have proved how good they are. We performed amazing character. If you are a goal behind in this tournament, great spirit and character of team is needed. The end goal disappointed us but that is not relevant.
